Why I joined Rotary

My father-in-law was a Rotarian and it looked like they had a lot of fun. That's about all I knew about Rotary so when approached to join Rotary I was ready for some fun. Of course, right away I found out there was a lot more to Rotary than just having fun!

Why I stay in Rotary - I stay in Rotary because of all the good Rotary does. I feel connected with fellow Rotarians all over the world.

How I find meaning in the Club - For me, the meaning comes from the friendship, the fellowship, the feel of a better connection with our community and the ongoing opportunity to help and serve others.

๐ŸŒŸ Rotarian Spotlight: Steve Owles ๐ŸŒŸ

When Steve Owles first joined Rotary, he thought it was all about fun โ€” after all, his father-in-law always seemed to be having a great time. But he quickly discovered that Rotary is much more: itโ€™s service, purpose, and meaningful connection.

Steve stays in Rotary because he sees the good it does locally and globally, and he values the deep friendships and fellowship that come with serving others.

He currently serves as our Service Projects Director and Assistant Director for Youth Services, and he is our President Designee for 2027โ€“28. Steve is also a past president of both the Santa Rosa Sunrise Rotary and Tahoe City Rotary clubs, bringing a wealth of leadership to Gold Country Rotary.

At this yearโ€™s Oktoberfest, Steveโ€™s reliability and expertise anchored the entire event. From organizing the beer bar and hauling supplies to ensuring everything was returned afterward, he was essential to both setup and breakdown. Steve and Lindy also brought energy and fun to the always-popular schnaps bar โ€” a big hit with guests!

Thank you, Steve, for your leadership, service, and heart for Rotary! ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒ
